The result of IVF largely depends on the quality of the germ cells from which the embryo is forming. Some diseases negatively affect the quality of eggs or even hinder their maturation. Also, oocytes deteriorate with age - this is a natural process in the female body. With a low quality of their own oocytes (or their complete absence), a woman may be offered IVF with egg donor obtained from a young and healthy woman. Egg donor are used in the IVF procedure only if there are medical reasons. The main indications are recorded in Order No. 107n of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation of 08.30.12, On the Procedure for Using Assisted Reproductive Technologies, Contraindications, and Restrictions on Their Use.
Donor oocytes are recommended firstly for a woman who does not have her own germ cells (as a result of menopause, premature ovarian exhaustion, the presence of genetic pathologies, etc.).
A reproductologist can recommend the use of donor oocytes in cases where a woman has previously undergone IVF, but the treatment was unsuccessful. Another category of patients who can use this program are women at high risk of transmitting genetic diseases to their children.
The use of high-quality oocytes of healthy women-donors in the program is an effective way to overcome female infertility and a chance to become parents of a healthy child!
